Anthony Quinn Bay, Rhodes: The Complete Guide

Turquoise water and rocks framed by pines at Anthony Quinn Bay, Rhodes

Anthony Quinn Bay is one of the most photographed coves on Rhodes — a small, rocky inlet of turquoise water framed by pines, just south of Faliraki. Famous for its clear water and dramatic rocks, it is a favourite stop for swimmers, snorkellers and boat trips. Here is where it is, how it got its name and how to visit.

Where is Anthony Quinn Bay and why the name?

The bay sits on the east coast between Faliraki and Ladiko, about 20 km south of Rhodes Town. It is named after the Hollywood actor Anthony Quinn, who filmed The Guns of Navarone here in the 1960s and fell in love with the spot.

The cove is small and rocky rather than sandy, with pines running down to the water and flat rocks to lay a towel on. Its sheltered shape keeps the water calm and exceptionally clear.

Snorkelling and swimming

Anthony Quinn Bay is one of the best snorkelling spots on Rhodes. The rocky sides drop into clear water full of fish, and the calm, shallow entrance suits families too. Water shoes are useful because of the rocks and sea urchins.

Go early in the day to enjoy it before the crowds and boats arrive, and bring a mask — the visibility over the rocks is superb.

How to visit Anthony Quinn Bay

Many Lindos and coastal boat trips make a swim-and-snorkel stop right in the bay, which is the most scenic way to arrive. By land it is a short drive from Faliraki or about 20 minutes from Rhodes Town — we can arrange a private transfer or include it in a tour, and the boat cruises that stop here are easy to book with us.
